Riverbed Success Story
Key Challenge Providing fast access to network resources for remote users. The Solution Riverbed Steelhead WAN Acceleration solutions. History MAG Industrial Automation Systems (MAG) became interested in Riverbed WAN Acceleration products when they needed to provide faster network response times to remote users. MAG’s parent company, Maxcor, Inc., had recently completed a business acquisition and needed to accelerate data and application speeds for the new remote location. "We conducted feasibility studies of various hardware and software options to support this geographically dispersed user base and arrived at the Riverbed solution since it promises to provide accelerated data transport and access even with lower bandwidth connections such as a T1 between the sites," said Victor Yue, Manager Technical Services Information Technology. Evaluation MAG requested two Riverbed Steelhead 1010 evaluation units from Riverbed and deployed them in early December 2005. "The results achieved with the Steelhead 1010’s were beyond our expectations and network resource access response times were very similar to having the servers installed local to the users’ network. Given such positive experience we decided to purchase two of the just released Steelhead 1020’s in February 2006 from The Newman Group," said Yue. Implementation and Support "The sales and technical support staff from The Newman Group was eager to work with us and assisted us with the utmost professionalism, courtesy, and fast response in the sales and installation process. Their post-sale support was equally impressive in ensuring the installed units were functioning properly, informing us of the Riverbed product roadmap, and answering any on-going sales and technical support questions," said Yue. "We will continue to consider Riverbed products and The Newman Group for our future plans."
